Introduction to Yoga at Yoga Hillsboro (7 weeks) with John – Spring

Explore yoga in a safe, supportive, noncompetitive setting. Learn the basic breathing, movement, and meditation exercises that can help you be stronger, more relaxed and healthier. Each class will teach and practice a variety of yoga techniques. Welcoming all ages and abilities, Introduction to Yoga is a fun and enjoyable way to start a yoga practice.

When: Thursdays at 5:30PM until 6:45PM. First class: 3/28/2019

Note: There will be no class on April 25, May 2 or May 9.

Cost: 7 class Winter Term: $63. Drop in any class: $9

Recovery Yoga at Yoga Hillsboro (7 Weeks); Spring Classes

Recovery Yoga is restorative yoga designed to help students face the challenges of substance abuse and chemical dependency. Classes provide a supportive, non-judgmental, sober experience which can enhance mindfulness and reduce stress. The class is designed to support, but not replace, a formal addiction recovery program.

Recovery Yoga employs breathing awareness, yoga postures, and meditation techniques suitable for beginning students. Activities can be modified for individual physical limitations.

What: Gentle, restorative yoga classes for individuals in addiction recovery. No yoga experience necessary. 

When: Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM. First class; 3/28/2019. 

Note: There will be no class on April 25, May 2 or May 9.

A minimum donation of $5.00 per class is suggested.

Chronic Pain, Mindfulness, and Our Clinical Approach with Scott Hein PT, DPT. For Licensed Clinicians

I am so very honored and excited to invite Scott Hein, PT, DPT and certified therapeutic pain specialist (TPS) to come and share his insight and passion about studying pain science and treating patients with persistent pain. Scott will discuss the source of pain and how evidence shows it can best be treated with a biopsychosocial approach. I will lead the topic of the power and practicality of mindfulness practice in the approach to treating pain and stress.  Scott and I will guide you through learning, practice and discussion that may help you in practical ways with patients and with self-care.

Be our guest on Saturday, April 20; 5-7pm.  For licensed physicians and therapists; MD, PhD, PT, LCSW, PA, LPC, OT, NP, RN & others. RSVP.  Tuition is $20 and a certificate of completion for 2 contact hours of training will be provided.

  • Learn about the mind-body connection and how mindfulness practice can support both clinicians and patients from the viewpoint of an physical therapist  
  • Medical & Therapeutic Clinical Evidence of Mindfulness Practice Discussed      
  • Experiential practice with your peers
  • Come in informal, comfortable clothing.  Informal and with a changing room if you wish.

PARKING:  There are typically many parking spaces in the parking lot just near the front door of my studio facing Lincoln Street on Saturday afternoon and then street parking many places nearby.

 

MAKE IT AN EVENING IN DOWNTOWN HILLSBORO IF YOU WISH  (Some lovely places nearby)

You may want to make an evening of it in downtown Hillsboro with a friend or dear one.  There are many lovely restaurants and places a short stroll from my classrooms:

  • Insomnia Coffee Company.  Open early and late in downtown Hillsboro.  Good beverages, pastries, and wifi.  Good place to informally hang out
