The gentle forms of poses.  Much of the class reclined with gentle movement.  If you need to work in a chair that will be fine.   introduction to yoga breathing and the practices of mindfulness.

Gentle Mindful Yoga, Wednesday Mornings – Spring
Apr 24 @ 10:30 am – 11:45 am

A safe and friendly introduction to yoga, appropriate for those wanting to try an accessible form of yoga or for those who have had injuries in the past. We will practice movements that teach yoga alignment in ways that are available to most everyone. We will practice relaxation as well as develop strength and flexibility. Easy and modified yoga poses will be explored. Your physician should release you for general physical activity.

We introduce a physically more lively practice including Inversions, backbends, rigorous flow.  Mindfulness during practice emphasized.

Mindful Restorative & Therapeutic Beginning Yoga, Wednesday Evenings – Spring
Apr 24 @ 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm

The general form of postures, simple flows of generous movement, attention to breath and the practices attentive, quiet moments of stillness, mindful presence during physical movement stillness is emphasized.  This class will emphacize a restorative, therapeutic, and adaptive orientation so that folks might explore ways to care for themselves more directly and effectively.  This is of course no substitute for medical care or therapy.  The intention is to enhance a kind discipline for caring for ourselves in the way we move an respond to our bodies.  Caring for ourselves from the inside out.  FYI – This class is in my upstairs classroom up a long stairway so not appropriate if you are having mobility challenges.

Thursday MBSR 8-Week Program – Spring

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8-Week Program 

Here are the details of this training.  Use the Preregistration Form at the bottom of the page to advise Brant of your interests:

Program Structure:

  • Attend an optional, free 1.5-hour Orientation Session (dates below).  These are open for anyone with interest in the training
  • Complete a brief interview with the instructor
  • Provide the instructor with a completed MBSR Application.
  • 22 hours of class time (2.5 hours one day per week for 8 weeks).  Meeting each Thursday, 6-8:30pm: April 11th through May 30th.
  • A Sunday silent retreat:  May 19th ; Noon – 6:30pm.
  • Your commitment to do homework each day you are not in class during the Program: 45 minutes
  • Tuition is $290 for applications processed until one week prior the first day of MBSR class at the Orientation and then tuition increases to $360.
  • You will be Brant’s guest in his mindful yoga classes during the term as part of your home practice.
  • Payment plans and partial scholarships might be arranged for those with limited means.  Contact the instructor for details.
  • Classroom learning and practice of:
    • Gentle, adaptive mindful movement
    • Body scan meditation
    • Sitting meditation
    • Walking meditation
    • Mindful breathing practice
    • Group dialogue
    • Interpersonal learning
  • If you are currently in active treatment with an acute condition consult with your doctor, therapist or psychotherapist to provide the MBSR instructor their written or emailed recommendation/referral for MBSR prior to the beginning of the course.   You may be asked to give your doctor or psychotherapist permission to talk with your MBSR instructor in order to support you appropriately.  Participants often do this to better include their healthcare providers as partners in the learning process.

The MBSR training is held in the instructor’s well-equipped, safe and comfortable classrooms.

To register for the program you must  1) complete a brief interview with the instructor and 2) complete and submit the application.
