The Be-Well Gathering: Meeting Illness with Courage & Kindness
Oct 21 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Forgive my thoughtlessness.  This summer it dawned on me that the 2000 people in Yoga Hillsboro’s student community list may want to share time with one another about the challenges, joys and successes of healing and staying well.  After all, that is why we all show up here: learning and sharing how we might heal and stay well from in inside out!

It turns out that many doctors and therapists are in our community of students and would also be willing to learn and  share something about what they know.

So . . . here we go!  On a Saturday evening we will gather here.  The theme at this Gathering will be Meeting Illness with Courage & Kindness.

Bring two things: 1) a question about how how you might be able to meet, deal with a difficlut diagnosis, 2) something to say about how you or someone you know met illness with courage and kindness.

We have the good fortune to have Dr. Kathy Alvarez, MD of Partners in Wellness willing to come that evening and share her experiences with us.

All welcome to this event.  Register to RSVP because there is limited space.  Saturday, October 21st; 5-6:30pm.  Hope to share this with you!  —  Brant

Practicing Gratitude: New Year’s Day Retreat
Jan 1 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Begin the year with the experience of and practicing ways of meeting the difficulties of life with a quality of gratitude.

We are of course thankful for so many good things that come our way.  You may have some inkling that a quality of gratitude is helpful even if bad things come your way.  We’re less reactive, more hopeful, less stressed and so much more.  In fact good research is telling us that a quality of gratitude has many benefits:  Research – Proven Benefits of Gratitude.

Beyond the research and perhaps most important and most intuitive to us is this essential quality of a life well-lived.  Here is a wonderful TED that captures this sense and the way we will consider gratitude during the morning:  Gratitude TED.   Also consider this radio interview on the program OnBeing that explores the depths and nature of gratitude:  The Anatomy of Gratitude.

The very good news is that we can practice gratitude.  Let’s share the practice and learning here.  New Years Day.  9am – Noon. $20.  Learning materials included.

Please RSVP/Preregister by emailing me so we have enough space for all!

Thanks!  —  Brant
